
Nigel Burns
Burns has built a reputation as a fierce and respected litigator, having tried numerous cases and secured significant verdicts and settlements on behalf of his clients. His results include a $12.5 million probate settlement, a $1.4 million medical malpractice verdict against the County of Los Angeles, a $4.25 million wrongful death policy-limits settlement, and multiple six- and seven-figure recoveries across a wide range of matters. Collectively, he has secured more than $125 million in verdicts and settlements.
In addition to serious personal injury and wrongful death cases, Nigel handles probate litigation, complex elder financial abuse matters, business disputes, and other high-stakes trials. He is a trial lawyer whom other attorneys trust with their clients and frequently retain for consultations, trial strategy, and representation in their own cases.
Burns is active in the legal community and has served on multiple trial lawyer associations and boards. Nigel is also a frequent writer and lecturer on litigation-related topics and previously served as managing attorney for one of the largest personal injury firms in Southern California.
Outside the practice of law, Nigel volunteers weekly at the St. Francis Center in Downtown Los Angeles, As well as various other centers during the year, working directly with individuals in need. His commitment to service reflects the same sense of advocacy and responsibility that defines his legal career. He is a dedicated and devoted husband and family man, and has five children, two of whom are following him in his passion and pursuit of the law.
