Monica Paredes - The Law Offices of Nigel Burns

Monica Paredes

Monica has extensive experience in the field of family law, where she has worked as a paralegal for 15 years for several family law specialists. She obtained an Associate Degree in Paralegal Studies in 2003 through an ABA approved program. Monica is bilingual, with Spanish being her second language. Prior to joining a law firm, Monica interned at the California Youth Authority Parole Office.

Outside the office, Monica mentors high school and college students who wish to pursue a career as a paralegal, and has been instrumental in helping students acquire jobs after graduation. Monica has also been a guest speaker at multiple area colleges and sat on the Paralegal Panel for Westwood College.

In the year 2000, while her husband was active duty in the Army, Monica received the Military Certificate of Appreciation Award from Commanding Officer Robert B. Abrams, LTC, for her outstanding voluntary service support.

Monica's own parents divorced when she was a child and she was involved in a long and painful custody battle. This gives Monica a unique understanding of what our clients and their families are experiencing.

Monica enjoys spending time with her two children and husband of 21 years. She also enjoys planning and coordinating parties/events, cooking, listening to music, crafting, road trips, and dogs.
